PLANNING a wedding can be very stressful, and stress can bring out the not-so-nice side of people.
That’s what happened on an episode of Say Yes to the Dress when a bride-to-be was mean to the friends she’d selected to have as bridesmaids.

It was so bad, in fact, that staff at the boutique needed to step in.
Emily Bleakly, who was set to marry her now-husband Jesse, told viewers in a confessional that her bridesmaids have been causing her “a lot of stress”.
She added that she felt “very lonely” during the planning because she didn’t feel as though they were being supportive of her.
Emily, who already had her wedding dress and was focusing on everyone else’s attire, revealed she wanted yellow dresses for her bridal party,
However, all the bridesmaids were worried about the colour, with one, Melissa, saying she didn’t want to “look like Big Bird”.
The bridesmaids then hit the rails, looking for potential dresses.
Laura, the maid of honour, told viewers it hadn’t been long ago that she was looking at dresses for her own wedding.
Emily then revealed to viewers she felt Laura wasn’t really focused on her wedding.
“Laura’s like, ‘When I planned my wedding I did this, or when I planned my wedding, we had this,'” Emily said.
“Who cares? Your weddings over,” she remarked.
Dress consultant Brandon decided to try and appease both sides by having the brides pick out a yellow dress but in a style they preferred.
But Emily’s opinions of the dress styles were brutal.
“That’s horrible,” she said, followed by, “You look like a big nacho, like covered in cheese,” and “you look like a big cabbage”.
When Laura explained she chose her dress because she likes the “more conservative look”, Emily fired back: “That’s why you stuck me in that horrible dress [on your wedding day.”
The bride-to-be went onto add the dress she wore as a bridesmaid for Laura looked like her “grandma’s curtains” and said she felt like “a huge heffer in it”.
Presenter on the programme, Lori, then intervened to try and get to the cause of Emily’s upset.
Asked how her wedding planning had been going, she responded she hadn’t had much help along the way.
I want my mom here for every step of the wedding planning but I just know that that’s not gonna happen.

She was then quizzed about her mum and she explained: “She’s not big into it [the wedding].
“I want my mom here for every step of the wedding planning but I just know that that’s not gonna happen,” Emily said in a confessional. “It sucks.”
She admitted she hoped it would be a “bonding” experience for her and her mum and it’s what she saw Laura have with hers.
“I want to feel like she did on that day,” she said getting emotional.
“You know I’ve been there for you, so from the moment my wedding was over it’s been about you,” Laura told Emily through tears.
All her friends then started reassuring the bride she wasn’t alone and that they would always be there for her.
“We’re the bridesmaids, that’s our job,” said Valerie.
“You’re my best friend, I’ll give you my house – I mean, I’ll do anything for you,” Laura said.
“To have my bridesmaids step in and support me like that, it just feels so good,” Emily said.
Thankfully, Emily eventually said yes to a bridesmaid dress and they were shown in a group hug.
“Today made me realise how good friends I actually have,” the bride told the audience.
Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette
If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble.
- Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom.
- Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided.
- Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream – even if it’s not.
- Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered.
- Wearing white is a massive no-no if you’re not the bride.
“I love the dress that we picked out. All the resentment I’ve been carrying around is gone.”
In the comments underneath the YouTube clip, people praised Lori.
“Hurting people hurt people. Thanks to Lori for digging deeper to find out why the bride was behaving so badly,” one penned.
Another said: “So glad Lori got to the root of the problem. So glad the bridesmaids were understanding.
“I couldn’t imagine going through my wedding without my mother’s help.”
Someone else joked: “Lori is so intelligent, she is very smart. She should work as a therapist instead [rolling on the floor laughing emoji].”
