A RTE First Dates Ireland contestant caused some controversy after he made a confession about “culchies”.
Returning for a second date, student Ellie, 21, from Limerick was served a treat with a twist by cheeky bar manager Daniel, 22, from Drimnagh.

His days at Irish college had convinced him that country girls were better looking.
Ellie spoke about how she gets “insulted” when people mistake her for being from Cork due to her accent.
When Daniel asked her “what’s wrong with Cork”, she replied: “Because then people think you sound like a culchie. Do you know what a culchie is?”
Daniel then revealed how he believes everyone from outside Dublin, bar Galway City, are “culchies”.
Ellie wasn’t having any of it and said: “Are you joking? That’s like a farmer or a bogger.”
Ellie confessed that a previous partner of hers didn’t introduce her to his friends for a year and a half.
He replied: “That’s awful.”
Ellie called her friend while she was in the bathroom and laughed as she said, “He’s Pete Davison blonde”, and said she wasn’t too sure if he liked her.
Daniel told the waiter that she’s “unbelievable”.
It got to the end of the date when Ellie realised she didn’t know his name.
Luckily, it didn’t spoil the night and the pair both wanted to see each other again.
Daniel caused quite the stir about his culchie comments as RTE viewers all fled to social media to share their opinions on the topic.
Liam wrote: “Ignorant.”
Linda said: “Ah Jesus, why?”
Ger commented: “Way to shoot your shot and miss by a culchie mile.”
Daniel added: “Lads, I like culchies.”
Gill remarked: “I mean… he’s not wrong.”
MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN
Elsewhere, TV presenter and ‘no filter’ comedian Bláithín, 33, from Dublin met fellow Gaeilgeoir and ‘proud culchie’ Mary, 25, from Killarney.
They’re both redheads but that’s not nearly the most interesting thing they had in common.
Blaithin shocked Mary when she told her that it was her first date with a woman.
They hit it off from the beginning and were laughing throughout the whole date.
Meanwhile alternative Afro-fusion artist Alvin, 28, from Blanchardstown met pansexual barista Jordan from Navan, but his sexy talk was not music to her ears.
CHEEKY DATE
Alvin brought Jordan some stunning flowers and she was chuffed.
He admitted he hadn’t been on a date in a couple of years and hasn’t been in a relationship since 2018.
And while the pair looked like they were hitting it off, Jordan wasn’t feeling it.
When he went to the bathroom and cheekily said she can come with, Jordan spoke to the waitress and revealed she wasn’t into his “horny” approach.
She said: “I think if it was another environment and he was having the approach he’s having now, I’d probably look at him and go… [waved her hand up].”
But against all odds, the pair wanted to see each other again.
And finally, fellow fantasy fans Stu from Cork and Lada, 38, from Swords – both veterans of 6-year relationships – shared an obsession with books.
The couple had a lot in common and both opened up on their heartbreaks being a “blessing”.
