Along the way, he won three Heineken Cups for Leinster and two Six Nations titles – including the 2009 Grand Slam – for Ireland.

Since retiring, meanwhile, he has transitioned to a successful career in the media as both a pundit for RTE and ITV, and columnist for the Irish Times.

Meanwhile, he runs a business with his wife Aoife and has teamed up with Paul Howard for a number of children‘s book.

He will be a guest on Friday night’s Late Late Show, on which he will discuss the partnership with the author of Ross O’Carroll Kelly fame.

And here, SunSport takes a look at the life behind the Irish rugby legend.

How old is Gordon D’Arcy and where is he from?

Gordon D’Arcy was born on February 10, 1980 and is 44-years-old.

Originally from Ferns in County Wexford, the former centre made his rugby breakthrough at Clongowes College.

So much so that he was called into the Ireland squad for the first time by Warren Gatland before he had even sat the Leaving Cert.

After completing his exams, he went on to play for Lansdowne before making his Leinster and Ireland debuts in 1998 and 199, respectively.

Is he married?

D’Arcy has been married for 13 years, having tied the knot with former Miss Ireland Aoife Cogan in 2012.

The coupling of an Irish rugby star and glamorous model meant that the intimate ceremony at St Macartan’s Cathedral in Monaghan was dubbed the ‘wedding of the year’.

The subsequent ceremony took place at the Castle Leslie, where Paul McCartney tied the knot with Heather Mills in 2002.

When an Irish rugby player marries a former Miss Ireland it was not hard to see why it was dubbed as the ‘wedding of the year’ back in 2012!

It was a star-studded occasion, attended by the likes of Brian O’Driscoll and wife Amy Huberman, Rob Kearney, Leo Cullen, Johnny Sexton, Ronan O’Gara, Shane Horgan, and others.

Complimenting the wedding itself was their sunny honeymoon, spent in Barbados.

Their relationship is of both a personal and professional variety, as they are partners in Form School, a reformer pilates studio in Dublin.

Does he have any kids?

Gordan and Aoife have three kids together.

Their eldest is Soleil, aged nine, with their second child being Lennon, who is seven.

They added baby daughter Meadow to the clan in November 2020 amidst the strict hospital regulations associated with the Covid-19 lockdown.
