The pair tied the knot on June 14, 2015, in Lucy’s home country, Wales during an intimate ceremony at the Corran Resort and Spa in Carmarthenshire.

Three years after marrying, Tommy would hang up his boots in favour of a microphone as he began a career in television.

The 40-year-old host has been presenting Ireland AM since 2020 after being a rugby pundit.

Recently, Tommy branched out with his career again as he launched a new product – his own skincare collection.

At the launch of Flow by Bowe, Tommy revealed how he has made his marriage work with his wife while they both balance busy careers.

Tommy lives in Belfast with his family and commutes each day down to Dublin for the Virgin Media Studios.

The 40-year-old spoke about how himself and Lucy make the distance work as he told Goss.ie: “I think it’s a case of good communication and good chat between the two of us.

“And certainly when kids come along, I think that’s really important as well. And I think respect too, that’s the biggest thing is that Lucy respects everything that I’m doing.”

And it’s clear the respect flows both ways in the marriage as Tommy gushed over his hard working wife, who is a nurse.

He explained: “She’s a nurse, she’s getting the kids up and out to school, dealing with the chaos of that

“And to be honest with you, that’s a lot tougher than what I do because I’m living the life going and drinking coffee and talking rubbish on the telly in the morning.”

Tommy also revealed that balancing work, family and kids is much easier when everyone gets along and said his kids are “great buddies, which is lovely to see”.

The Virgin Media star recently met up with Christopher Connolly for his series, Get Better With Chris, where Tommy reminisced on his journey from being a sports star to presenting.

BOWE OUT

He said: “Obviously being a former rugby player, representing Ireland, representing my country was always my dream.

“It’s funny to live out your dream and then it all finish in your late 20s, early 30s.

“You have to try and find something else to do. And I’m very lucky. Moved into live television, Ireland AM. And it’s not quite rolling out on the Aviva anymore.

“You don’t get the same buzz, but you know, you have to be careful. You say one wrong thing, it could be well and truly cancelled at seven o’clock in the morning.

He said: “It’s taken a while, but I’ve been busy. But from my point of view, I’m on to the second chapter, or second half of my career.

“I haven’t even had my breakfast. So it’s a new adrenaline rush and I really love it.”
