FAIR City star Johnny Ward celebrated his honeymoon on a romantic cruise and said it was “out of this world”.
The Dublin native, best known for his role as Ciaran Holloway on the hit RTE soap, got married to his wife Brenda Murphy last summer after meeting during a chance encounter in 2021.
Within two weeks after meeting the pair had said “I love you” and married in July 2023 at Kildare’s Westgrove hotel.
The happy couple spent their honeymoon sailing with Princess Cruises on an 18-deck ship, the Sun Princess, that had stops in Rome, Crete, Naples and Kusadasi.
The 36-year-old’s cruising experience exceeded all his expectations as the entertainment on board blew him and his new wife away.
The Love/Hate actor told RSVP: “We decided to wait and do a cruise because I’d never done one before, nor had Brenda. You name it, they had it on the ship.
“One night we were on the centre deck. A magician had just gone on stage, a musician performed and then there was this guy doing tricks on a unicycle.
“I looked at Brenda and I looked around and thought, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible’.
“The entertainment was non-stop and there was something for everyone. I had this vision that it was going to be full of old people. It was far from it, I felt like I was in heaven.”
When asked what surprised him the most about his first cruise, Johnny noted his lack of sea-sickness.
“I didn’t feel like I was on a cruise. I thought the movement [of the ship]would make you sick. The only other time I was on a ship was the Stena Line cruise to Glasgow, and I always got sea sick.
“I also loved waking up in a different destination every day. Kusadasi was my favourite port. I had never been to Turkey before and I didn’t know what it was going to be like. Brenda’s cousin married a Turkish guy, so he told us where to go.”
The couple’s time on the Sun Princess cruise marks their second honeymoon, as straight after their 2023 wedding the pair went to Lanzarote on a “cheap and cheerful trip”.
Fair City’s Rebecca Grimes also recently revealed she got married in a romantic New Year’s ceremony.
The actress, best known for playing Hayley Collins in the popular RTE soap, took to her Instagram to spill the exciting news that she got married.
She announced earlier last year that she was engaged to her partner Paul Donegan.
SPECIAL DAY
In her post Rebecca and Paul were snapped together in a pub that was covered in Christmas decorations.
The happy couple were enjoying some delicious drinks together and Rebecca looked incredible in her white gown.
The dress was off the shoulder and hugged her figure before flaring out around the bottom.
She also had a bouquet of pink flowers in her hands and her hair was in loose waves.
Meanwhile, Paul was rocking a black suit, white shirt and black dickie bow for the special day.
They were both looking at each other lovingly and had huge grins on their faces
